Finding you wep key

How to find your wep key

How to find your wep key is really a lot easier then one might think.  It consists of just a few simple steps. Your default WEP key is a 10-digit number below a barcode under your 2Wire mode. The other number there is not 10 digits, so it is easy to tell which one it is.

Try first connecting a computer to a wired connection on the router. You want to then point your browser http://192.168.1.1/ doing that will take you to the admin area of your router. You should check the documentation that came with our router if that does not work. It will have there listed your correct xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx IP address.

Resetting your router if it gets to this point is really your biggest concern. Routers are very touchy and you may have to try resetting it a few times before it takes. If all fails, you can always try doing a hard reset as your last resort. You will need a pen or a paper clip in order to be able to push the little button normally found on the bottom of the unit. You should hold that down for at least 30 seconds. Mind you doing this will reset your router back to the factory setting so your password will be changed back to be the default setting. Default for Linksys is username is (blank) and the password is (admin).
